With all of my pregnancies, I had it in my head that this was the time I was ALLOWED to have a big belly and people would actually praise it! With each pregnancy, I would anticipate the time where my belly would go from "she ate a little too much at dinner" to "there's a baby in there!" I loved the belly. I loved anticipating my new baby. (Did not love the back pain or morning sickness) But there was no denying that pregnancy was a beautiful experience. Not glamorous, definitely not glamorous, but definitely something that should be celebrated and documented.
I Will be Your Very Own Personal Cheerleader
This is where maternity photography comes in! I LOVE getting to work with expecting mamas! The joy, excitement, and anticipation is something I can join them in, even if I have just met them! I will always feel that ping of excitement for any random expecting mama I see. So, when I get to celebrate with an expecting mom by showcasing her beautiful journey to motherhood, you can bet your booty I will be her cheerleader and best friend for that entire session, pregnancy, and after! (Especially when I get to do the newborn photos too!) With having taken many courses on posing, lighting and editing, you can rest assured I will have you feeling confident, happy, and excited for your maternity photos!
Fears and Reservations
Sometimes I hear "I do NOT want photos with me at this size!" And believe me, I totally understand feeling very NOT like yourself. I know how hard it is to get motivated to switch from sweats to normal clothes, let alone getting completely ready for a photoshoot! BUT one thing I DEFINITELY know, is once baby is born, and you no longer have the movements and kicks, you will MISS the belly! With as many times as I have heard the complaint above, I have heard even more, "I am SO glad I got the photos to remember the baby belly! I miss it!" Maternity photos capture this magical time in life, so you can be taken back to that time whenever you want, just by looking at them!
This is something I love about photography in general; it not only captures an image, but the emotion, memory and beauty of a period in someone's life.
What to Wear
I know how challenging it can be to plan for a photoshoot. So, I have taken one of the stresses off of my maternity clients by offering a client closet FULL of maternity gowns, body suits, and outfits. My maternity clients get to go through these options and use any they would like. This takes the stress away from spending money on a "one-time" outfit. Each of the gowns/outfits you see in this blog post are all included in my maternity closet. This is just a sample of all that I have to offer though! If there is something specific you would like, I have options as to how we can get that for you, so be sure to ask!
Indoor and Outdoor Options
I am SO excited to say, I now have a commercial studio that has the space to offer indoor maternity sessions! I am a lover of natural light photography, and find joy in natural beauty of the outdoors, however the artistic quality that comes with the indoor maternity sessions is one I LOVE too! So, if it is winter and you don't want to spend any more time outdoors than you absolutely have to, I have my studio available and ready to create art with you!
Including Your Partner and Other Children
This is something I absolutely LOVE doing! Capturing the love between both mom and dad and the excitement they share for their bundle of joy on the way is PRICELESS. Or seeing the way the future big brother or sister hugs their mama's belly is something I smile seeing each and every time. There really isn't anything more magical than a growing family. ❤
